Fairy House Childcare
Welcome to Fairy House Childcare, an in-home multi-age daycare offering a warm, nurturing, educational, equitable, and inclusive environment for children from birth to age 12. As a licensed Early Childhood Educator (E.C.E.) who has studied psychology as well, I provide personalized and high-quality care tailored to each child’s unique needs and abilities. Fairy House Daycare is designed to be a warm, loving, gentle, and rich environment. I plan and implement circle time and activities based on the children’s needs, abilities, and interests at different ages. My approach emphasizes learning through play while we engage children in a wide range of different activities that develop and improve children’s language, sensory, cognitive, physical, social, and emotional skills. In Fairy House Childcare, we live in a children’s world and provide some opportunities to imagine, draw, make, and do things as they like and prefer. We look at their works and listen to their words as observers of their age to encourage children’s curiosity and creativity. Parents will receive a monthly newsletter with practical points about social skills and routines, and beneficial information about children’s challenges in different aspects, while we suggest some ways to teach and practice to make good habits and skills. In addition, we prepare a calendar outlining the themes and activities planned for the month ahead. This allows parents to stay informed and engaged in their child’s experiences at Fairy house childcare while doing something with and for children in parallel to cooperate with teachers in daycare to do our best in this part of children’s lives, because they are our greatest treasure and deserve the very best.
Core Curriculum
Our curriculum is designed to support the holistic development of each child, focusing on key areas such as:
● Language Development: Expanding vocabulary and communication skills through doing show and tell, practicing poems and songs, pretend play, and teaching active listening.
● Visual Arts: create some opportunities to use a wide range of materials in different textures while letting them make and do by themselves as they can and prefer.
● Music & Movement: Integrating rhythm, dance, and physical activity to improve their balance, fine and gross motor skills, and eyes-hands-feet coordination.
● Math Concepts and cognitive skills: Introducing basic math principles through playing with blocks, measuring cups, money, geographic shapes, puzzles, and counting, matching, and asking open-ended questions. Letting them practice problem-solving and critical thinking.
● Science & Discovery: Fostering curiosity and exploration of the natural world through doing basic and understandable experiments, and watching some short informative videos about nature.
● Sensorial Exploration: Engaging five senses to enhance their feeling of the world and themselves by teaching senses and preparing some activities to know and use their senses. Also, teaching self-regulation by engaging their senses.
● Social skills: they need to learn how to share, take turns, listen and respond respectfully, talk confidently, show empathy with others, ask for help or give a hand to others, and know about their emotions to recognize, label, express, act, accept, and manage them to connect with themselves and other people.
Commitment to Quality Care
Fairy House Childcare is committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and enriching environment for all children in my care. My approach ensures that each child’s needs are met while promoting their growth and development in a supportive, family-like setting.
Hours of Operation
Fairy House Childcare offers full-time care, which is considered five days per week. Add-ons or schedule changes may be accepted only if there is availability for that day, and they will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Please keep in mind that such schedule changes can disrupt our normal routine. We would appreciate as much notice as possible so that we can plan for meals, sleeping arrangements, and any necessary adjustments to activities.
We maintain an open-door policy for parents during daycare hours, meaning you are always welcome to call or drop in to see your child. We kindly ask that you consider our daily schedule when doing so, as visitors may cause children to react in an excited manner. If you call during the day and we are busy with the children, please leave a message, and we will return your call as soon as possible.
Operating Hours:
● Monday to Friday: 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. ( children should be picked up by 5:30 p.m.)

Additional Breaks:
- Summer Break – Closed the last two weeks of July
- Christmas Break – Closed the last two weeks of December
Arrival and Departure:
Children should arrive clean and fed unless they are arriving just before a mealtime. We will do our best to send your child home with a clean diaper, and we would appreciate the same consideration when you drop them off.
It’s normal for some children to have difficulty separating from their parents or cry during drop-off. Please make your drop-off brief; the longer you prolong the departure, the harder it becomes. A smile, a cheerful goodbye kiss, and a reassuring word that you will be back are all that is needed. In my experience, children are nearly always quick to get involved in play or activities as soon as parents are gone.
Please also be brief at pick-up times. This is a time of testing when two different authority figures—the parent and the provider—are present. All children will test to see if the rules still apply. During arrival and departure, we expect parents to back up our rules. Please be in control of your child during pick-up times.
Sign-In and Sign-Out:
For your convenience, a sign-in/out sheet, pen, and clock are located by the door. This gives us a written record of the child’s attendance, hours, and the person who brought/picked up the child each day.
Behavioural Guidance Policy
At Fairy House Childcare, we are dedicated to creating a safe, nurturing environment where every child can thrive. Our Behavioural Guidance Policy is designed to promote positive behaviour and help children develop self-regulation, respect for others, and social skills in a manner that is clear, consistent, and compliant with legal standards.
Legal Compliance
Fairy House Childcare adheres to all local, provincial, and federal regulations concerning childcare, including the Child Care Licensing Regulation of British Columbia. We strictly prohibit any form of corporal punishment, emotional abuse, or neglect. This policy aligns with legal standards and is designed to protect both the children in our care and our daycare from legal liability.
Guiding Principles
● Respect for Children’s Rights: Every child’s dignity, rights, and individuality are always respected.
● Positive Reinforcement: We use positive reinforcement to encourage desired behaviours. This includes praise, rewards, and recognition for positive actions.
● Consistency and Predictability: Consistent routines and clear expectations help children feel secure and understand what is expected of them directly.
● Developmentally Appropriate Practices: We recognize that each child is unique, and our behavioural expectations are tailored to their developmental stage and individual needs.
Behavioral Expectations
Children at Fairy House Childcare are encouraged to:
● Show Respect: Treat others with kindness and respect.
● Communicate Effectively: Use words to express feelings and resolve conflicts.
● Share and Cooperate: Share toys and materials and cooperate with others.
● Follow Instructions: Listen to and follow the instructions of caregivers.
● Respect Boundaries: Respect the personal space and belongings of others.
Behavioural Guidance Strategies
● Positive Role Modelling: Caregivers model appropriate behaviour, demonstrating kindness, respect, and effective communication.
● Clear Communication: Expectations are clearly communicated using age-appropriate language in short and brief sentences.
● Redirection: Inappropriate behaviour is gently redirected to a more positive manner.
● Choices and Natural Consequences: Children are given choices within clear boundaries, and natural consequences are used to teach the impact of their behaviour.
● Time-In: Instead of traditional time-outs, we use a time-in approach, where a child is given time to calm down in a supportive environment, with caregiver assistance as needed.
● Problem-Solving: We encourage children to be part of resolving conflicts, helping them develop problem-solving skills.
Handling Challenging Behaviour
When challenging behaviour arises:
● Observation and Documentation: We observe and document the behaviour to understand its context and any underlying causes. Documentation includes minor incident logs and reportable incident forms. Documentation is kept confidential and shared with parents as needed.
● Calm Intervention: Teachers intervene calmly and immediately, using strategies like redirection or offering choices.
● Parent Communication: Parents will be informed of any significant behavioural issues and the steps we are taking to address them. A collaborative approach will be taken to create a consistent strategy between home and daycare. We are open to their feedback and suggestions, while we wish they would be open to our advice as a teacher who spends 8 hours a day with their children and observes them in different situations accurately.
● Behavioural Plans: For ongoing issues, we may develop an individualized behavioural plan in consultation with the parents and, if necessary, external specialists. This plan will be documented and regularly reviewed
Prohibited Practices
The following practices are strictly prohibited and non-negotiable:
● Corporal Punishment: No form of physical punishment, including spanking, hitting, or slapping, is allowed under any circumstances.
● Emotional or Verbal Abuse: Yelling, shaming, using derogatory language, or threatening a child is strictly prohibited.
● Withholding Basic Needs: We do not withhold food, water, rest, or comfort as a form of punishment.
● Isolation: Children will not be isolated or subjected to any form of solitary confinement.
● Humiliation: We do not engage in practices that humiliate or degrade a child in any way.
Parental Rights and Responsibilities
● Open Communication: We maintain open lines of communication with parents regarding their child’s behaviour and any concerns that arise.
● Conflict Resolution: We encourage parents to bring any concerns directly to us. A formal process is in place to address grievances in a fair and timely manner.
● Legal Compliance: Parents are required to read and sign our Behavioural Guidance Policy as part of the enrollment process, acknowledging their understanding and agreement.
Record-Keeping and Confidentiality
● Incident Reports: All incidents of challenging behaviour and how they were handled are documented using minor incident logs and reportable incident forms. These reports are shared with parents and kept confidential.
● Confidential Records: All documentation regarding a child’s behaviour is kept in a secure file and is only accessible to authorized individuals.

The safety, well-being, and dignity of children are our highest priorities. Any harmful, inappropriate, abusive, or neglectful behaviour toward children is strictly prohibited.
If there is a concern, suspicion, or report regarding inappropriate behaviour, abuse, or neglect by a staff member, caregiver, volunteer, provider, or any person present in the childcare program:
● The immediate safety and emotional well-being of the child will be prioritized.
● The individual involved may be removed from contact with children immediately, if necessary.
● All concerns, observations, and disclosures will be documented carefully, professionally, and confidentially.
● The matter will be reported immediately to the Licensing Officer and appropriate authorities as required by law.
● The childcare program will fully cooperate with all investigations conducted by licensing or child protection authorities.
● Confidentiality will be maintained to protect the child and family.
● Physical punishment, humiliation, yelling, threatening behaviour, or any form of frightening or harmful discipline is not permitted.
● All staff and caregivers are expected to provide a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for children always.
The Fairy House childcare program is committed to protecting the physical and emotional safety of all children and following all child protection laws and regulations in British Columbia.
Documentation and Notification Process:
● Documentation: Every disclosure, observation, or allegation of abuse or neglect must be documented promptly. This documentation should include:
○ The date and time of the disclosure or observation.
○ The exact words used by the child or the person making the allegation.
○ Observations of the child’s behaviour or physical condition, if relevant.
○ Immediate actions taken following the disclosure or observation.
● Notification: Parents or guardians will be notified as appropriate, depending on the nature of the allegation and in accordance with advice from Licensing or MCFD. Care will be taken to ensure that the child’s safety and confidentiality are maintained throughout the process.
Missing and Wandering Children
Steps to Take When a Child is Identified as Missing:
1. Immediate Search:
○ Conduct a quick but thorough search of the premises, including all rooms, outdoor play areas, and any nearby surroundings.
○ Ensure that other children are supervised while the search is conducted.
2. Contacting Authorities:
○ If the child is not found within a few minutes, immediately contact local police to report the missing child.
○ Provide the police with a detailed description of the child, including their age, height, weight, clothing, and any distinguishing features.
3. Notifying Parents:
○ After contacting the police, immediately notify the child’s parents or guardians. Provide them with the steps being taken and the information given to the authorities.
4. Cooperate with Authorities:
○ Follow the instructions provided by the police and cooperate fully with their investigation. Keep a line of communication open with both the authorities and the child’s parents until the child is found.
Documentation:
● Incident Report: An incident report will be completed as soon as possible, documenting the time the child was last seen, the search efforts, communication with authorities, and the outcome.
● Review: The incident will be reviewed to assess any contributing factors and to implement measures to prevent similar occurrences in the future. Reference: For detailed information on incident reporting, please refer to the Community Care Facilities Licensing (CCFL) Bulletin – Incident Reporting in Child Care. These procedures are designed to ensure that all incidents are handled promptly and effectively while maintaining the highest standards of care and compliance with regulatory requirements. By following these guidelines, we aim to provide a safe environment for every child at Fairy House Childcare.
Nutrition Policy
At Fairy House Childcare, we believe that good nutrition is essential for children’s growth and development. Our goal is to work together with parents to ensure that every child receives healthy and balanced meals while attending our daycare. Below are the guidelines for our nutrition policy. Also, we ensure that children are never forced to consume food or drink, and that food and drink are not used as a form of punishment.
Who Provides Food and Drinks?
Parents/Guardians:
● Meals and Snacks: Parents/guardians are responsible for providing all meals and snacks for their child each day. This includes a morning snack, lunch, and an afternoon snack. We ask that these meals be nutritious, avoiding foods high in sugar, salt, additives, preservatives, and artificial colourings.
● Labelling: Please clearly label all food containers, water bottles, and other items with your child’s name.
Daycare:
● Emergency Drink Provision: If your child does not have a drink for lunchtime, we will provide water.
Promoting Healthy Eating Habits
Healthy Choices:
● Nutritious Meals: We encourage you to pack meals that include fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins. Please ensure that the food you send is something your child enjoys and has eaten before.
● Lunch Guidelines: At lunchtime, children are encouraged to eat the healthier parts of their meal first, such as fruits and vegetables, before moving on to treats or desserts.
Breakfast at Daycare:
● Morning Routines: If mornings are rushed, you may bring your child’s breakfast to daycare. We believe breakfast is an essential meal, and we are happy to accommodate this.
Safety During Meals:
● Choking Prevention: Please avoid sending hard candies. Hot dogs and grapes should be cut lengthwise to reduce choking risks.
● Seated Eating: Children must be seated while eating or drinking to prevent choking and to encourage proper eating habits. Walking or playing with food or bottles is not allowed.
Pacifiers and Bottles:
● Nap Time: Pacifiers are allowed only during nap time. If your child needs a bottle before napping, it will be given to them before they go to bed. For safety, bottles will not be allowed in bed.
Nut-Free Environment
Fairy House Childcare is a nut-free facility. To protect children with nut allergies, no products containing nuts or nut derivatives are allowed. Please check labels carefully before sending food to daycare.
Handling Allergies, Dietary Needs, and Cultural Preferences
Allergy and Dietary Management:
● Inform Us: Please inform us of any food allergies, dietary needs, or cultural preferences your child has. We will work with you to ensure these needs are met safely and respectfully.
Environmental Responsibility
Eco-Friendly Practices:
● Reusable Containers: We encourage the use of reusable containers and bottles to reduce waste.
● Recycling: We recycle paper, tin, glass, plastic, and tetra packs at the daycare, teaching children the importance of caring for the environment.
Communication with Parents
Daily Updates:
● We will keep you informed about what and how your child is eating at daycare. If there are any concerns or changes in your child’s eating habits, we will communicate with you promptly.
● For more information on Healthy Eating in the Early Years, refer to the Appetite to Play-Food Literacy website at www.appetitetoplay.com and the Canada Food Guide.
Active Play Policy
At Fairy House Childcare, we understand the vital role that physical activity plays in the healthy development of young children. Our Active Play Policy is designed to ensure that every child in our care has ample opportunities to engage in active play each day, helping to develop their gross motor skills and fostering lifelong healthy habits.
Incorporating Active Play
Daily Active Play:
● Outdoor Play: Children aged 12 to 36 months will have access to a designated, safe outdoor play area equipped with age-appropriate play equipment. We provide at least 120-180 minutes of outdoor activity daily, spread across 2-3 sessions.
● Indoor Play: On days when outdoor play is not possible due to weather conditions, we ensure that children remain physically active indoors with engaging activities that promote movement, such as dancing, obstacle courses, and interactive games.
Physical Activity Goals:
● Our program includes structured and unstructured play that allows children to explore, run, jump, climb, and develop their gross motor skills. This daily active play is integral to their overall physical and emotional well-being.
Parent Responsibilities for Active Play
Appropriate Attire:
● Footwear: Please ensure that your child comes to daycare with shoes that are suitable for running, jumping, and other active play activities. Sneakers or closed-toe shoes are recommended for safety and comfort.
● Outdoor Clothing: Depending on the season, children should have the appropriate clothing for outdoor play. This includes jackets, boots, gloves, hats, and rain gear, as needed.
● Extra Clothing: Since outdoor play may involve activities where children get dirty or wet, we ask that you provide extra clothing for your child to change into if necessary.
Encouragement at Home:
● We encourage parents to reinforce the importance of physical activity at home by engaging in active play with their children outside of daycare hours. This partnership supports the development of healthy lifestyle habits. Ensure that all employees and parents are provided with a copy of the policy on screen use, as noted in the Director of Licensing Standards of Practice-Active Play.
For more information on Active Play, refer to the Appetite to Play-Physical Literacy website at https://appetitetoplay.com/
Screen Time Use Policy
At Fairy House Childcare, we emphasize active play, hands-on learning, and personal interaction as the primary ways to engage children. Screen time is limited and used thoughtfully to support educational goals and meaningful learning experiences. However, it is not offered to children under the age of 2.
● No screen time will be provided for children under 2 years of age.
● Screen use for children over 2 years old will be limited, age-appropriate, and always supervised. This screen time is limited to 15-20 minutes and is designed to be a fun and engaging part of the day’s activities occasionally.
● Screen activities may include short educational videos, music and movement activities, or special cultural/learning experiences.
● Screen time will never replace active play, outdoor play, creative activities, social interaction, reading, or rest.
● Violent, inappropriate, or commercial content will not be shown.
● Families will be informed about any regular use of screens within the program.
Screen Time Guidelines
Circle Learning Time:
● Permitted Use: During Circle Learning Time, a short 2–3-minute video with audio is occasionally shown to complement the letter of the week. These videos are carefully chosen from educational sources, such as YouTube, to reinforce the weekly learning theme.
Fun Days Activities:
● Occasional Use: Once a month, during Fun Days, a short educational or interactive video may be shown. This screen time is limited to 15-20 minutes and is designed to be a fun and engaging part of the day’s activities.
Other Areas of the Program:
● No Screen Time: Screen time is not permitted during other parts of the program. Our focus remains on active play, creative exploration, and social interaction throughout the day.
Policy Details
Age-Appropriate Content:
● All screen time content is carefully reviewed to ensure it is age-appropriate, educational, and supportive of our learning objectives. Content is selected to be free from violence, overly stimulating visuals, or inappropriate themes.
Supervised Screen Time:
● Screen time is always supervised to ensure that children are engaged and that the content is suitable. Monitoring ensures that screen time remains a positive experience.
Communication with Parents:
● Parents will be informed about the screen time activities their child participates in, including the content and its educational purpose. This allows parents to maintain consistency in promoting healthy habits at both daycare and home.
Documentation:
● Records of screen time activities, including content and duration, are maintained and available to parents upon request. This transparency helps keep parents informed about their child’s screen time usage at Fairy House Childcare.
● Note: Fairy House Childcare adheres to this Screen Time Use Policy to ensure that screen time is used appropriately and aligns with early childhood education standards. By limiting and carefully selecting screen time, we minimize any legal risks and maintain a safe, nurturing environment for all children.
By using screen time in a controlled, purposeful manner, Fairy House ensures it enhances our play-based learning environment. Your cooperation with this policy is greatly appreciated, as it helps us provide a balanced and enriching experience for your child.
Thank you for choosing Fairy House Childcare for your child’s care and education.
*** Parents are provided with a copy of the policy on screen use, as noted in the Director of Licensing Standards of Practice-Active Play.

Termination Policy
Termination Policy for Fairy House Childcare
At Fairy House Childcare, our primary goal is to provide a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment for all children. However, certain circumstances may necessitate the termination of a child’s enrollment. The following outlines the grounds for termination, the process to be followed, and our refund policy.
1. Grounds for Termination
Fairy House Childcare reserves the right to terminate a child’s enrollment for the following reasons, including but not limited to:
● Lack of Parental Cooperation: Instances where parents are uncooperative or do not comply with daycare policies.
● Non-Payment of Fees: Consistent failure to pay daycare fees as outlined in the parent agreement.
● Adjustment Difficulties: If a child fails to adjust to the daycare environment after a reasonable period.
● Child’s Behaviour: Persistent, disruptive or aggressive behaviour that poses a safety risk to the child or others, despite reasonable attempts at intervention and support.
● Parent/Guardian Conduct: Repeated or severe violations of daycare policies, including but not limited to:
○ Disrespectful or abusive behaviour towards staff.
○ Failure to comply with immunization requirements or other health and safety regulations.
○ Providing false or misleading information during the enrollment process.
● Physical or Verbal Abuse: Any instance of physical or verbal abuse by the child, parent, or guardian towards another child, educator, or property.
● Inability to Meet Child’s Needs: If Fairy House Childcare determines that we are unable to meet a child’s specific needs, including behavioural, developmental, or medical requirements, despite reasonable efforts.
● Serious Illness: If a child has a serious illness that compromises the safety and well-being of other children and staff.
● Enrollment Fraud: Providing false or misleading information during the enrollment process.
Note:
Fairy House Childcare strives to accommodate the diverse needs of all children. However, if a child requires support or resources beyond what our center is equipped to provide, and these needs cannot be met without compromising the care and safety of other children, we may determine that our program is not the best fit for the child. In such cases, we will work closely with the family to explore alternative care options that better align with the child’s needs.
3. Termination Process
● Notice: Fairy House Childcare will provide a two-week written notice to the parent/guardian of the intent to terminate enrollment, specifying the reason(s) for termination and the effective date.
● Immediate Termination: In severe cases where immediate termination is required for safety reasons, termination may be enacted without prior notice.
● Appeal Process: Parents/guardians may appeal the termination decision in writing within five days of receiving the termination notice.

● Non-Refundable Deposit: The deposit paid at the time of enrollment is non-refundable under this policy.
Child’s Well-being
The safety and well-being of all children at Fairy House Childcare are our top priorities. In cases where immediate termination is necessary to protect a child or others, we reserve the right to terminate enrollment without prior notice.
Confidentiality
All information related to a child’s termination will be treated confidentially in accordance with privacy laws.
Additional Considerations
● Collaboration with Parents: Open communication and collaboration with parents are essential in addressing any issues that may lead to termination.
● Documentation: Detailed records of incidents, communications, and attempts to resolve issues will be maintained.
● Compliance with Laws: This termination policy aligns with all relevant provincial and federal laws, including the Child Care Licensing Regulation.
Important Note: This policy is subject to change and may be modified at Fairy House Childcare’s discretion. The daycare reserves the right to interpret and apply this policy fairly and consistently.
Bathroom Supervision Policy
At Fairy House Childcare, ensuring the safety, privacy, and well-being of children during bathroom use is a top priority. Our policy is designed to meet licensing requirements and follows best practices to ensure children are properly supervised, while promoting independence and maintaining their dignity.
Supervision Guidelines (Based on Licensing Requirements):
1. Children Under 3 Years Old (Toddlers):
○ Toddlers in this age group typically require assistance with diaper changes or potty training.
○ Licensing regulations require that children under 3 be always supervised. I will be present during diaper changes and when toddlers use the potty, ensuring safety while providing support.
○ All diaper changes are performed in a designated, sanitized diaper-changing area that meets licensing health and safety standards.
2. Children Aged 3–5:
○ licensing allows for more independence but requires that caregivers remain within sight or hearing range to ensure the child’s safety.
○ I will be within hearing distance during bathroom use to provide verbal assistance if needed. For safety, the door will remain slightly open if required, allowing appropriate supervision while maintaining privacy.
Bathroom Safety and Licensing Compliance:
● The bathroom is child-proofed and meets all licensing requirements, ensuring it is free from hazards, including sharp objects, cleaning products, or chemicals.
● Licensing regulations mandate that non-slip mats and accessible, child-sized equipment are available to prevent accidents and provide a safe, functional bathroom environment.
Privacy and Dignity:
● Licensing regulations emphasize maintaining children’s privacy while providing necessary assistance. I will ensure children feel comfortable using the bathroom and will assist only when requested or deemed necessary for safety.
Hygiene Practices:
● Handwashing: In compliance with health and safety regulations, children are required to wash their hands after every bathroom use. I will assist younger children and ensure that proper handwashing techniques are followed.
● The bathroom is regularly cleaned and sanitized in accordance with licensing standards to maintain hygiene and prevent the spread of germs.
Toilet Training Support (Under Licensing Standards):
● I support children who are toilet training, following licensing regulations that encourage promoting independence while offering guidance and frequent bathroom breaks to prevent accidents.
● Parents are encouraged to communicate their child’s stage in toilet training, so I can provide consistent support and align with licensing guidelines on promoting developmentally appropriate practices.
Supervision During Bathroom Use:
● Since I am the sole staff member, and licensing regulations require continuous supervision, I will stay within proximity to the bathroom to monitor both the child using the bathroom and the rest of the group.
● Activities for the rest of the children will be adjusted to ensure safety while I provide necessary assistance for children in the bathroom.
At Fairy House Childcare, we are committed to providing a safe, supervised, and nurturing environment for your child, fully in compliance with childcare licensing requirements
Emergency Plan
As the owner and sole caregiver at Fairy House Childcare, I understand that emergencies can happen unexpectedly. To ensure the safety and well-being of the children, I have set up an emergency plan for situations like illness or family emergencies.
1. Backup Caregiver: I have a trusted and qualified backup caregiver who can step in if I am unable to care for the children due to an emergency. This person is familiar with our daycare’s routines and policies. If a family emergency occurs during daycare hours, I will immediately arrange for this caregiver to take over.
2. Parent Notification: In the event of an emergency, I will contact parents as soon as possible through phone calls or text messages. I will inform you of the situation, provide details about the backup caregiver (if needed), or let you know if the daycare must close temporarily.
3. Emergency Contact Information: I will always have an updated emergency contact list for every child. This includes phone numbers for parents or guardians and any additional emergency contacts. If I cannot care for the children, I will notify you or your emergency contact immediately.
4. Written Contingency Plan: I have a written contingency plan that outlines what will happen during an emergency. This includes information on how care will continue with a backup caregiver, how and when you will be contacted, and what steps will be taken to ensure the children’s safety.
5. Handling Emergencies During Care: If an emergency happens while the children are at the daycare, I will remain calm and keep the children engaged in their regular activities until a backup caregiver arrives or parents come to pick up their child. My main goal is to maintain a safe, calm environment for the children.
